What Makes a Go Kart Run?

If you have recently become interested in Go Kart Racing and you live in Florida, you’re in for a treat. There is a massive Go Kart culture all over the state, which means that you will find many like-minded gear-heads waiting to compete. However, before you jump in headfirst, it is important to know just what makes that racer tick so you can buy or build your own with confidence. From performance tires down to the motor, there are plenty of parts which make a Go Kart do what it does best.Additional information can be found at http://www.gadling.com/2011/07/11/the-ultimate-road-trip-detour-go-kart-racing/.

One of the most important things to consider when acquiring a new Go Kart is the chassis. When racing a Kart, you want to make sure that the chassis you choose is a lighter one, which will help it be more aerodynamic. Engines, even racing specific ones on Karts are small, so you don’t want the body to be too heavy or it’s going to be slowed down on the track. Tires are also important. Take into consideration the weather on the day of the race. If it’s raining, you might want to consider slapping on a set of slicks, which are specifically designed to handle moisture.

As for the engine, do a lot of research and grab a nice 4-stroke. Just understand that a nice racing engine can cost anywhere from 700 – 900, though it’s more than worth the investment. Do your homework, get that racer built and head out to your local Florida track for some stiff competition. You’ll never look back again.
